On May 15, 2019, the 5th Joint Meeting of Sino-Danish Regulatory Science Center, Fudan University was held at Pharmacy Department, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen (Denmark). Among the attendants were Professor Ming-Wei Wang (Member of the Steering Committee and Dean of Fudan School of Pharmacy), Professor Sven Frokjaer (Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen),Professor Flemming Madsen (Head of Pharmacy Department, University of Copenhagen), Professor Marie Louise De Bruin (Director, The Copenhagen Centre for Regulatory Science) and Dr. Jens Heisterberg (Vice President of Regulatory Intelligence, Novo Nordisk A/S). Professor Flemming Madsen chaired the meeting.
During more than one hour interactions, the participants of the three organizations briefed each other of the progresses made after the 4th joint meeting. Then, they conducted a broad and in-depth discussion relative to regulatory science courses for graduate students, professional training and industrial internship. An agreement was reached concerning operational goals for this year.
Before the meeting, Professor Ming-Wei Wang gave an invited lecture to 20 or so graduate students who are enrolled in regulatory science studies at University of Copenhagen, systematically introducing drug administration regulations in China: history, evolution and current situation, which received enthusiastic responses from the audience. Dr. Wang made special arrangement to chat with a Chinese student, Mr. Meng Wang, in this class learning his study programs and encouraging him to return home upon completion.
In order to strengthen research collaborations in frontier sciences between the two universities, Dr. Wang met with his old friend, Professor Kristian Strømgaard, Director of Centre for Biopharmaceuticals, Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology, University of Copenhagen. They determined a few research directions of mutual interest. Professor Strømgaard has been invited to participate in 2020 Queenstown Molecular Biology Meetings in Shanghai as well.
Professor De Bruin entertained Dr. Wang with a dinner at the city center in the evening with the presence of Professor Frokjaer, Professor Madsen and Associate Professor Christine Erikstrup Hallgreen.
