In the early evening of May 16, 2015, Professor Zhu Chen, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, met with his old friend, immediate past Chair of the Government of Canada’s Science, Technology and Innovation Council (STIC), Professor of the University of Ottawa, Dr. Howard Alper in Shanghai. They had a very warm and candid discussion covering a variety of topics. Drs. Saijuan Chen (Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering) and Ming-Wei Wang (Director, the National Center for Drug Screening and the Chinese National Compound Library) participated in the meeting. During the day, Dr. Wang also attended several Ph.D. thesis defenses made by graduate students of Drs. Zhu Chen and Saijuan Chen.
