Professor Peter K. Vogt (Einstein Chair Professor of Chinese Academy of Sciences) visited Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM), Chinese Academy of Sciences on November 14, 2014. He received a warm reception by Ming-Wei Wang (Director of the National Center for Drug Screening/Chinese National Compound Library, CNCL). A roundtable discussion was held between him and several dozens of graduate students where Dr. Vogt gave a brief account of his legendary academic life and encouraged the young scientists to firm their goals and to pursue excellence in science. He joined faculty luncheon at SIMM and met with both new and old friends. Following exchanges with some technical staff at CNCL relative to his latest research experience in the afternoon, he delivered an invited lecture entitled “Myc is not undruggable” which received active responses among the audience.
