The satellite library initiation meeting was held at the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL) in the morning of November 14, 2012. Twelve representatives from six satellite libraries nationwide attended the meeting, including Madam Chuan Li, Deputy Chief of Project Management, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Yuhong Jing, Assistant Professor of Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Beijing), Professor Jing Shang, Deputy Director of the Drug Screening Center of China Pharmaceutical University (Nanjing), Professor Junhai Xiao of Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, PLA Academy of Military Medical Sciences (Beijing), Professor Jingrong Cui of School of Pharmacy, Peking University and Dr. Wei Tang, Technical Director of Hangzhou High-throughput Drug Screening Center. Professor Jing Zhang, Project Officer of the National Mega Project Management Office, China National Center for Biotechnology Development, Ministry of Science and Technology of China attended the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Jianmin Yue, Deputy Director of CNCL. Professor Jing Zhang congratulated the meeting on behalf of the National Mega Project Management Office. Focusing on topics such as integration and use of resources, mechanistic management of funds, intellectual property protection and establishment of communication format, she made some specific recommendations relative to the future development of CNCL, while fully commending the achievements since its foundation.
Following an introduction of the CNCL history by Professor Ming-Wei Wang, Professor Fajun Nan, Deputy Director of CNCL, gave a detailed account as to sample and information management, principles and procedure of services as well as functionality and integration of satellite libraries. Miss Yuting Zhu of PerkinElmer discussed the features and utilities of the information management software currently installed at CNCL.
The representatives conferred the operating system of CNCL and conducted heated discussions on details in satellite library integration and development. Further understanding of the significance and prospect of CNCL during this meeting prompted them to express their desire to actively participate in this endeavor and to share each other's resources thereby promoting China's asserted efforts in drug discovery.
A facility tour was made after the meeting and the guests were deeply impressed by this state-of-the-art setup and associated cultural atmosphere. Madam Yanyan Jiang, Head of Information Management at CNCL was present in the meeting.
