Accompanied by Professor Jingkang Shen, President of Central Research Institute of Shanghai Pharmaceuticals Holding Co., Ltd., Professor Kaixian Chen, President of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) visited the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL) in the afternoon of December 20, 2011. Professor Ming-Wei Wang briefly introduced the development, culture and prospect of the library. As the former director and present chairman of the Academic Committee of Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, CAS, Professor Chen visited this site during its construction. Eyewitness of the rapid progress of this key and state-of-the-art R&D infrastructure, Professor Chen was highly encouraged: "this public resource platform employs a mechanism of sharing and openness that is truly generous and commendable", he said, "this facility is filled of culture that reflects the humanity and artistic aspiration of the scientists working here". Professor Chen emphasized that CNCL should make persistent efforts to publicize the function of CNCL to all those involved in drug discovery.
