A delegation of Gates Foundation Global Health Drug Discovery Institute visit CNCL

A delegation from Global Health Drug Discovery Institute (GHDDI; Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, U.S.A.), consisted of Drs. Wen Xiong (Director of Scientific Program), Kun Sun (Investigator) and Chi Kin Chan (Director of HTS), visited the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL) between March 7 and March 8, 2019. They were warmly received by Professor Kaixian Chen (Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences), Professor Jia Li (Director, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Professor Zhaobing Gao (Assistant Director, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Professor Ming-Wei Wang (Director, the National Center for Drug Screening/ Chinese National Compound Library). During the stay, they made broad and in-depth discussions with Professor Dehua Yang, Senior Engineer Jia Wang, Senior Engineer Yingyan Jiang and other research, technical, accounting as well as logistics staff from Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences and jointly completed the project implementation paperwork relative to a research collaboration between the two organizations aiming at screening novel therapeutic agents against two diseases of poverty. In the morning of March 8, several collaboration team members connected via Skype with Dr. Gang Liu (Senior Program Officer, Global Health Discovery & Translational Sciences, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) who is on a business trip in Boston (U.S.A.) to discuss some details about the budget associated with this project.
