The 2015 annual progress review meeting of the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL) was held in Shanghai on July 6, 2015. Twenty-three delegates representing the CNCL core facility, six satellite libraries, seven institutions that are participating in the proposed “regional resource centers” and Inforstack Shanghai Co., Ltd. attended the meeting. Professor Jing Zhang, Project Officer of the National Mega Project Management Office, National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People's Republic of China was present.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Ming-Wei Wang, Director of CNCL. After brief opening remarks, Professor Ming-Wei Wang gave a mega project work report relative to the overall achievements made by the CNCL core facility to date. After that, Professor Jingrong Cui (School of Pharmacy, Peking University), Professor Junhai Xiao (Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, PLA Academy of Military Medical Sciences, Beijing), Assistant Professor Feng Wang (Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing), Associate Professor Jun Liu (the Drug Screening Center of China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing), Deputy Section Chief Chuan Li (Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Vice President Wanhong Xu (Hangzhou High-throughput Drug Screening Center) reported their respective progresses made during the past three and half years.
Dr. Haotian Zhang (College of Life Sciences and Biopharmaceuticals, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University), Associate Professor Min Li (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou), Dr. Xin Li (Lecturer of College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou) , Ms. Ruiqiu Sun (Tianjin International Joint Academy of Biomedicine) and Dr. Minghua Chen (Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences) reported respective progresses in establishing “regional resource centers” in their geographical regions including a specialty library dedicated to store second metabolites isolated from microorganisms. Mr. Jun Gao of Inforstack Shanghai Co., Ltd. reported the status of compound management software installation and online drug discovery resource platform.
Following a working lunch, the attendants were divided into three groups for roundtable discussions. Representatives from the three groups presented their views and suggestions to the audience, while Dr. Ming-Wei Wang provided answers and explanations to some of the questions raised before arrangement of this year’s tasks. Finally, Associate Professor Jing Zhang made some concluding remarks about the meeting.
