National Compound Resource Use Forum was held on July 21, 2014 in Zhangjiang, Pudong, Shanghai. Forty-five delegates from 14 cities representing 28 institutions involved in drug discovery across China attended the forum. Associate Professor Jing Zhang, Dr. Yao Yao, both are Project Officers of the National Mega Project Management Office ("Mega Project Office"), the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) of China, and Madam Yufang Xu, Deputy Director of Shanghai Zhangjiang High-Tech Park Administrative Committee, were present.
The forum was chaired by Professor Ming-Wei Wang, Director of the Chinese National Compound Library (CNCL). On behalf of the Mega Project Office of NHFPC, Associate Professor Jing Zhang endorsed this event and emphasized its significance. While congratulated on the marked achievements made by CNCL since its foundation, she asked CNCL to condense its rich experience of the past, to improve the operating system and mechanisms, and to consistently provide best quality resource and technical services nationwide, in preparation of the next five-year economic development plan.
Professor Ming-Wei Wang introduced the current and development plan of CNCL; Professor Fajun Nan (Deputy Director of CNCL) presented the inclusion criteria, sample storage and usage guidelines of CNCL; Mr. Jun Gao (Shanghai Inforstack Co. Ltd.) and Mr. Heming Liu (Wicresoft Shanghai Co. Ltd.) discussed the CNCL information management software and the online drug screening network presently under construction, respectively. This was followed by a brief questions and answers session.
After a facility tour, the delegates were divided into five groups based on the geographic regions where they come from, i.e., Beijing, Bohai Ring, East China, South China and West China regions for roundtable discussions. Representatives of each group presented their views and suggestions thereafter before concluding of the forum. An agreement was reached amongst the participants relative to the follow-up implementing plan and associated timeline.
