In the afternoon of March 18, 2014, Professor Ming-Wei Wang, Director of the National Center for Drug Screening and Chinese National Compound Library, met with Professor Sir Brian Heap, CBE, ScD, FRS, former President of Science Advisory Council, European Academies, former Vice President of the Royal Society and former Master of St. Edmund's College (University of Cambridge) in Cambridge, UK. Traditional English afternoon tea was warmly served by Sir Brian and Lady Heap. An in-depth discussion was carried out between them that lasted for 1.5 hours, covering topics such as social responsibility of scientists, sustainable economic development, pros and cons of genetically modified foods and technology aid to countries of poverty, among others. 

Sir Brian was the mentor of Dr. Wang's Ph.D. thesis during the early 1980’s and a profound relationship has been nurtured by the two families for more than 30 years.
